  tor, who are appointed by the county board. County boards, under Section
59.12, Wis. Stats., are also allowed to desig-
  nate any registered land surveyor employed by the county to perform the
duties of the county surveyor. Elective officers
  serve 2-year terms except county executives, who serve 4-year terms.
