Eight women and a boy stand alongside the road with baskets of food harvested from fields and forest in Attapu Province

  • 1970 - 1971
  • Eight Nyaheun women and a boy stand alongside the road with baskets of gathered forest food. The women have been gathering edible items such as bamboo shoots. They are walking on the road between Nong Panuan (XB 6463) and Houei Soi (XB 6855) and probably live in either Houei Soi or Nam Kong (XB 7156), both Nyaheun villages. The baskets they are carrying are made by Nyaheun men and women and are used when transporting items, especially from their highland fields to the village. The girl in the center smokes a pipe, while three of the other women smoke homemade cigarettes.
