COLOPHON: "This book grew along with my body during the first four months of my pregnancy. Katherine Kuehn's Winter Fan & Spring Fantasy started me dreaming of handmade paper last spring. This spring I joined Walter Hamady's class & spent hours cutting cotton sheets & old clothes into one inch squares, days beating rags into pulp in our cold, damp paper mill, & interminable sessions forming, pressing, & drying the pulp into paper. In addition to my own handmade paper, I used handmade Japanese Kitakota paper that I dyed.
The following typefaces were used in this book: Palatino Roman & Italic, Bookman, Weiss Roman & Italic, Century Schoolbook, Centaur, Bernard Gothic, Bodini, Optima, Spectrum, & Kennerley.
'Map of a Flyway' & 'Cryptography' were previously published in The American Pen, & 'Considering' in The Chowder Review. Special thanks to June Tyler, whose etching appears in some copies of this book.
In the stillness of sleep, dream of love, and each day see that dream awakened on earth."
