First Regiment Band
1917-1918
QI RING the ear 111-17 the First Regimenrt Band establihed a se rie of 'seen Sunday afternoon concerts.
These programs were designed to develop and display the talent in the hand and to give members of the and
experience in public appearance. The series was an unqualified success. During the rirst season the paid
admisions numbered nearlr 13,000.
the Second Winter Series has proved that this series of concerts has become a permanent Madison institution.
Five concerts have been given. Thexe have been enthusiastically suppirted and this work is now contemplated as a
regular part of the work of the band annually. [he band has sulered heavily from loss of membership due to having
45 men in active service, but never in the history of the organization ha, there been such an influx of capable high
school graduate players. Ihis has saved the situation fr the hand.
