The Fischer Hotel was torn down during the summer of 1936. A four-story brick building, it was located at 508 56th Street. The old building was erected in 1911 by George Fischer, during one of the early industrial booms of Kenosha. At that time, the Simmons company had embarked on a new venture - the manufacture of brass beds. The Fischer Hotel was built largely to meet the rising demand of the factory workers for temporary quarters. By the 1930s, the hotel building had gradually fallen into disuse and was then torn down in 1936.
