• Tobacco box, Charles Heinkwitz, Merrill, 1884. This wooden box for tobacco, cigars or snuff is carved in the shape of a log cabin and painted dark brown. The cabin roof is a hinged lid. The lid is topped with a carved bird, which is painted brown with black lines for feathers and missing its beak.
• Written in pencil inside lid: "August 20, 1884, Emil Wyrtz/Merrill, Wis." Written in pencil on underside: "Emil Wyrtz/from F. Heinkwitz/August 20, 1884/the old log cabin in the lane."
• Charles Heinkwitz, who worked as a furniture dealer in Merrill, Wisconsin, made this box as a birthday gift for Emil Wyrtz in 1884. Wyrtz used the box until his death in 1920.
