This is a perfect summer day. Nan and I started
out this morning and went to Cook's first; got a letter
from Mrs. Philip Allen for Nan, nothing for me! 7e met
Mr. Bridgman in Cook's, one of the young men whom we met
on the "Canopic." He came to Venice Saturday; said he
had difficulty in finding a room; finally went to a place
the gondolier took him to, not very good, but as he goes
to-morrow morning, he "doesn't think it worth while to
change."
Last evening about six o'clock, as we were sitting,
in the garden by the rail near the water, someone hailed
us from the gondola, and asked "where we were stopping?"
