Hmong villages often have large granaries or rice storage buildings built in or near them. Here, in the White Hmong village of Nam Phet (PC 5752) in Houa Khong Province, a large granary is on the left. The roof is covered with split bamboo shingles unlike most granaries which have thatched roofs. The house to the right has a roof covered in thatch. The fence below the granary is for containing domestic animals from time to time. A stack of firewood is piled in front of the house.
