Ada Deer of the Menominee Indian Reservation in Keshena, Wisconsin. Ada was one of six Native American women selected by Columbia Pictures for a Hollywood screen test. She later became a scholar and activist for Native American causes and served as Assistant Secretary of the Interior and Head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
