Protest against the Reserve Officers' Training Corps, 1972
Date
1972
Summary
On Tuesday, May 9, 1972, about 200 students marched to the Stevens Point National Guard Armory to stage an hour long anti-Vietnam War protest. Inside the Armory, Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) students were conducting their annual awards program, the "Chancellor's Review." The protesters climbed on to the Armory roof and used non-verbal communication to make their feelings about ROTC's presence on campus known. The "Stevens Point Journal" reported that in general the protest was peaceful, but one window was broken.
