Crewmen of the submarine U.S.S. "Pogy" and their women guests dance in a conga line at the "Town Hall" studio of radio station WOMT in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. This photograph is one of several taken by WOMT owner and manager Francis Kadow and grouped together under the label "Pogy Party." The event was probably the commissioning party for the "Pogy," which was the second of twenty-eight submarines built by the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company for the U. S. Navy during World War II. The "Pogy" was laid down September 15, 1941; launched June 23, 1942; and commissioned January 10, 1943. Submarine commissiong parties were usually held on or near the commissioning date.
