Summary
David Devereaux-Weber detailed his thoughts and memories of his time working for DoIT at UW-Madison. Dave spoke of the time period of the 1970s through present-day and on the following topics: cable TV, the transition to wireless, digital technology, the rapid growth and expansion of DoIT alongside digital technology, his coworkers, and various projects around the Madison area. Dave offered opinions on how navigating changing technology, both as a service and business to be managed, can be difficult fiscally and more broadly. Dave also discussed his life outside of UW-Madison, including previous careers working as an engineer for cable TV in Madison and working for the Madison Academic Computing Center (MAC), his relationship with technology, and his retirement activities. This interview was conducted for inclusion into the DoIT@30 Oral History Project of the UW-Madison Archives & Records Management oral history collection.
