New Glarus 70th anniversary celebration

  • August 16, 1915
  • A large crowd attends the dedication of a monument to the original Swiss settlers of New Glarus, Wisconsin, at the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the village. This statue of a settler still stands in front of the Swiss Church at First Street and Fifth Avenue. The supports of the Welcome arch have the dates 1845 and 1915 and the German phrases "Einen fur Alle" and "Alle fur Einen"--One for All and All for One.
