Papers of and concerning Henry Clay Taylor from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, in 1861 a private in Company A, 1st Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment, and in 1862-1864 a lieutenant in Company A, 21st Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment. The papers relate chiefly to his army service in the Eastern theater of war, capture at Chickamauga, 1863, imprisonment at Libby Prison, and illness and death in Charleston, S.C.; including details on daily life in the Army of the Cumberland, espionage, guerrilla activity, and conditions at Libby Prison.
