- Mrs. J. H. Mueller, Manitowoc, is shown wearing a housedress and apron as she packs Christmas boxes of food to send to her sons in service, Petty Officer 1-c Edward Mueller in the South Pacific and Cpl. Robert Mueller in Italy. She is sending "cans of homemade pickles and rabbit and other treats." During the fall of 1944 women met at the Manitowoc Vocational School kitchen in a "canning class" to prepare items for their Christmas shipments. This photograph, credited to the "Manitowoc Herald-Times," appeared in the Manitowoc Vocational School newspaper "The Ship", December 22, 1944.
