- General John Bullen, almost entirely from his own means, built across the Fox River a substantial bridge, the first bridge over the Fox River between Dundee, Illinois and Burlington, Wisconsin. It was called "Bullen's Bridge." Since the first bridge of 1836, there has been built at that point several bridges of both wood and steel construction. In 1929, the bridge shown by the slide bearing the name "Silver Lake Bridge" was built.
