Portrait of Otto Eggebrecht, halfback and captain of the 1916 River Falls Normal School football team. The defending state champions beat Milwaukee to win the Normal School State Football Championship for a second year in a row. River Falls went undefeated that year, outscoring their opponents 179-14. At the time, Eggebrecht was considered the best all-around athlete the school had ever produced. Eggebrecht returned to his alma mater in 1921 and taught in the department of physical education and coached football (1922-1924), basketball (1922-1925), and baseball (1923) until 1925.
