to put one [on] maps on fraimes [frames] or boards 

Take whoale meale a handfull [whole meal a handful] or 2
and put to about 1/2 p pinte [per pint] of water
boile [boil] till itt [it] be of the thickness of 
starch used for Cloase [clothes] then spreade [spread]
itt [it] on the boarde [board] & with a smoothing Iron
& a paper between smooth it along ye [the] boarde [board]
but if it be to put one [on] a fraime first
take a cloth of lining as large as ye [the] paper
Tipp it in water then wringe [wring] it out
and spread it on ye [the] backe [back] of ye [the] paper or
mappe wch [map which] is to be fraimed [framed] and let
it lye [lie] till it be damped well then with 
ye [the] paste above mentiond [mentioned] put itt [it] on ye [the]
fraime [frame] & when it comes to drye [dry] it will
be at stritch [stretch] very well probatt

To Blacke [black] lines in scales
Take a litle Charcole & grinde [little charcoal & grind] with 
lintseed oyle [linseed oil] & Rub it all over ye [the] scale
whil [while] ye [the] lines & figures be filled then wash
it of [off] with salat oyle [salad oil] & let it lye [lie]
until it be dry & then polish with shaw
grass & oyle [oil] it with yellow oyle [oil]
