No. 5660 Six-Foot Correcting Table
The design shown is one that has been used successfully in a number of newspaper plants.
A flat working surface is now acknowledged by most newspaper men to be the most rapid
method of handling matter, as it puts the compositor in the most natural working position
where he can do the best work.
The arrangement of individual units in the lower portion of this table, from left to right,
is as follows:

No. 5530 Unit, with bin- Contains three tiers of steel
galley shelves, accommodating thirty-nine double-
column, full-length steel galleys; each galley opening
is consecutively numbered on upright post.
No. 5587 Unit, with bin - Contains eight flat shelves
for matter in galleys; size of each shelf 148 x 24
inches.
No. 5530 Unit, with bin - Contains three tiers of steel
galley shelves, accommodating thirty-nine double
column, full-length steel galleys; each galley opening
is consecutively numbered on upright post.
The table is open from both sides.
The overhead bank is divided on both sides into compartments
14 ems wide for single-column matter, with one compartment
at each end 281 ems wide for double-column matter. The
overhead bank is fitted with set-screw adjustment, and can

be placed at any desired height above the working surface.
The top is of reinforced steel, size 28 x 72 inches.
At each end of the table the illustration shows a No. 5673
Dead Slug Bin. These bins are detachable, and can be dis-
pensed with if not required. They are arranged to empty by
gravity, as shown by the illustration on page 143.
'Material -Ash, with antique finish.
Dimensions: Floor space over all, 28 x86 inches, including dead
slug bins.
Height to working surface, 41 inches.
Height over all, 782 inches.
