Madison, Wisconsin: University Archives and Records Management Services
Summary
In their oral history interview with Chloe Foor, Becca Bedell spoke about their life as someone who is LGBTQ+ but also spiritual. Becca grew up in Florida, where they began to question their sexuality and gender in high school. Their parents were unsupportive of these queer identities, but their siblings accepted them. Becca then went to college at Princeton for creative writing. While in college, Becca discovered a program called Breaking Bread, which introduced them to their love of religion. They then went to graduate school at the University of Wisconsin–Madison to get an MFA in poetry. While living in Madison, Becca became very involved with PresHouse, the Presbyterian Campus Ministry. While at PresHouse, they founded a group called Queerly Beloved for "all of those who are LGBTQ people of faith and/or questioning one or both of those identities." After graduating from UW - Madison, Becca still worked with PresHouse for a bit longer, eventually moving to Oregon with their partner, where they remain today.
