   The Great Seal of the State of Wisconsin (left) and the Seal of the Secretary
of State (right), are
located in the Secretary of State's Office. The screw presses date from 1881
and are still used today.
The Great Seal is used for embossing official acts of state government, pardons,
extraditions, civil
and military appointments, proclamations, and authentications. The Secretary
of State's Seal is
used for certifying official records of the office, articles of incorporation,
notary commissions, and
