The exterior of this pot is coated with a white engobe and decorated with reddish-orange, purple-black, and green slip. The applied handles are molded and have small notches where they join the shoulders of the body. Glaze migration indicates that the jar was fired upside down. The lid is of a slightly different color and probably sat in a different area of the kiln. The lid is not glazed on the inside. The jar was purchased at the Vance Huffman estate sale in Burlington, North Carolina.
