- Keeler or "Tubby" is remembered as one of the better known and appreciated mentors of the first generation of athletes in football, basketball and track from 1916-1930. In 1969 when the university established an Athletic Wall of Fame in Mitchell Hall, Keeler was one of the first two recognized for football All-American at Madison and his highly successful coaching at La Crosse.
