My dear Leopold:
Enclosed you will find the address slips filled
out as per the suggestion made in your letter of April 11.
We are typing individual letters to the various farm editors,
and will date and mail these when you advise us that the
books are ready to be sent.
Robert Marshall surely must be an interesting character,
and I should greatly enjoy meeting him. I thoroughly appreciate
your kindness in permitting me to read his letter to you, and
having an opportunity to see the pictures and read the
KLumberjack* reprint. This material is returned herewith.
What type of a letter should I send Marshall in inviting
him to lecture here upon his return to the United States? Should
we suggest that he get his slides made up before he comes to
Madison, or should we urge him to stop off on his way East?
Slides would undoubtedly make the lecture more interesting to the
rank and file of the audience, but on the other hand a lecturer
is likely to stick pretty close to a running description of his
slides, rather than enunciate his philosophy - which after all
is the element you and I and the "inner circle" will really be

more concerned about.
I should like your frank reaction and suggestion in this
connection, and will then send the letter of invitation.
Sincerely yours,
xO :0
P.S. Your book has just arrived, and I am taking it home to read.
I am anticipating a lot of pleasure in its perusal, and want you
to know that I appreciate your kindness in sending it to me.
