A relatively prosperous Kammu woman who is dressed in a Lao skirt with jewelry for the holiday. There is a wide range among the Kammu in terms of prosperity which reflects their varying access to and abilities at the market. This woman appears relatively at ease in this setting unlike other Kammu women from more distant villages. Kammu sell and trade sesame seed, ginger, dried peppers, woven baskets for steaming rice, cotton, firewood and charcoal to the Lao (personal communication, Damrong Tayanin, Co-Director, Kammu Research Project, University of Lund, May 10, 2005).
