Despair, Enthusiasm, Distraction & Persuasion, Persuasion repulsed

  • 1821
London: Sherwood Neely & Jones
  • Several black and white drawings of light-skinned women in Grecian dress as personifications of words. Despair looks upward sorrowfully. Enthusiasm reaches out, eyes focused on her hand. Distraction holds a hand to her head and leans on Persuasion, who whispers in her ear. In "Persuasion repulsed", Distraction pulls away as Persuasion pleads with her.
