                Dear Dr, Leopold:

With reference to your letter of December
15, 1947 in which you enclosed a check from the
Garden Club of America for $12.00, this can be
handled in this office as a refond of disbursement
and deposited to the credit of Requisition 26664
                dated November 4, 197.

the proper credit in the proper place.

                                            Tours sincerely,

                                            Executive Secretary

The enclosed check is in return
for the sum you sent for reprints
made of your article "The Ecological
Conscience." At the moment of our
correspondence I had just come in as
Chairman to an empty treasury, with
no allotment to be made to my
Committee until October, and on my
part a most limited knowledge of the
 traditional expenditures and procedure
 of my office.

In view of the distinction which
 you conferred on our organization,
it seemed to me at the time that the
least we could do was to send you
as many copies as you wanted.

My Committee begs that you will
let the seeming discourtesy be wiped
from the records by accepting the
 enclosed check without other
 acknowledgment than cashing it!

I enjoyed the copy of your letter
to Dr. Avery.

                   Sincerely yours,

                   Mrs. Montgomery Hare
                           Chairman
