• This 8 1/2" x 11" two-sided flyer describing Manitowoc, Wisconsin as "the city of opportunity" was distributed as a welcoming promotional piece to some 1,500 delegates who attended the fifteenth annual Fox River Valley and Lake Shore Safety Conference in Manitowoc on May 21, 1942. The flyer describes Manitowoc's shipbuilding heritage, now adapted to wartime production of submarines and minesweepers, and highlights the city as a leading manufacturer of aluminum, cement, malt products, evaporated milk, patented couplings, canned goods, Christmas tinsel, and many other products. It also gives facts about utilities, education, churches, recreational facilities and climate.
