Linen folding postcard with eighteen color views of locations and activities in and near Manitowoc and Two Rivers, Wisconsin as they appeared in the 1940s. Presented here as samples are images of Holy Family Convent near Manitowoc; Washington High School in Two Rivers; Two Rivers Hospital; a scene along the highway between Two Rivers and Manitowoc bordering Lake Michigan; and three Manitowoc schools including Washington Junior High School, Lincoln High School, and Woodrow Wilson Junior High School. Other cards in the folder show the county court house, the Coast Guard station in Two Rivers, car ferries, submarines, and harbor views. There is also a short history and description of the Manitowoc-Two Rivers area. This folding postcard, cancelled June 23, 1945 in Manitowoc, is addressed to Calvin Weaver in Mill Hall, Pennsylvania and carries a handwritten greeting "From Daddy and Mother. I will see you Thursday." Calvin Weaver was the young son of Commander G. C. (George Calvin) Weaver, who was stationed in Manitowoc during World War II as the Navy’s Supervisor of Shipbuilding to oversee construction of submarines at the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company. Calvin and his sister Jeanne lived with their parents in Manitowoc, but at this time Calvin was staying with relatives in Pennsylvania.
