Summary

• Wearing jackets and ties, three members of the rhythm section of Earl Swokowski's orchestra are shown performing at a Friday night school dance at Lincoln High School in Manitowoc, Wisconsin in 1943 or 1944. On a raised platform in front of a brick wall and mesh-covered window, John Koeppe plays bass and George Pfeffer plays drums. Below them in front, Dave McDermand sits on a wooden folding chair playing the piano. Other members of the group not shown here were Russ Wilke, Art Nichols, Mac Johnson, Jerry Raleigh, Earl Swokowski, Melvin Lakatos, Karl Schmitz, Fred Greenwald, Marvin Pribek, and Lloyd Aumann. All were Lincoln High School students. This picture appeared in the 1944 Lincoln annual yearbook, the "Flambeau," over the caption "Swinging Out at Lincoln," with a description stating that "Swoki" Swokowski and his band "supplied the jive at school hops."
