Cover of the program for the second annual Wisconsin Hoofers Ski Tournament, March 4, 1934. Hoofers started in 1931 when the Union got a group of students and faculty together to establish an outing club. In the beginning, the group was especially geared toward winter sports. Their first project was to raise money to replace the aging ski jump, originally built in 1919. The new jump, 56 feet high and 108 feet long, was dedicated on February 11, 1933, with a ski jumping contest.
