Harry Wedertz, president of Lakeside Packing Company, is shown with a large “A” Achievement Award flag from the War Food Administration during a presentation ceremony in Manitowoc, Wisconsin on August 14, 1944. During World War II the firm, headquartered in Manitowoc, provided canned vegetables to the Quartermaster Corps for shipment to U.S. armed forces overseas. Despite acute wartime labor shortages, Lakeside set production records and maintained high quality, which was recognized by this award.
