• A woman wearing a print house dress and apron sprays some type of finish coat on a ten foot droppable bomber fuel tank in production at an Aluminum Goods Manufacturing Company plant in Manitowoc or Two Rivers, Wisconsin. This picture was part of a salute to women war workers published in the June 1943 issue of Mixing Bowl, the company’s employee newsletter. Noting that women were doing "a magnificent job on all war items," the article stated "They are working earnestly, untiringly for their sweethearts, sons, and brothers—for an early peace." During World War II, Aluminum Goods Manufacturing Company, which had plants in both Manitowoc and Two Rivers, produced more than 400 different types of items for the armed forces, including cartridge cases, radar parts, canteens and cooking sets, and these large droppable fuel tanks which were destined for use in TBF Avenger torpedo bombers.
