having been elected in
Navember, 1870, and those from the even numbered districts in 1869. Senators
hold their offices for,
two years, and receive a compensation of $350 per annum. The Lieutenant Governor

Consists of Sheboyzran county. Pop.
   ulation in 1870, 31,773. The Sen-
   ator is
   JOHN H. JONES, Rep., of She-
 boygan. He was born in Centre
 Lisle, Broome county, N. Y.. Feb. 18,
 1836; received an aca-demic educa-
 tion; is by profession a lawyer; he
 came to Wisconsin in 1857 and settled
 at Sheboygan; has been district at-
 torney of Sheboygan county for six
 years. He received 2,603 votes,
 against 2,271 for It. H. HIotchkiss
 Oem.

         SECOND DISTRICT
 Consists of the counties of Brown,
 Door and Kewaunee. Population
 in 1870, 4 ,,330. The Senator is
 LYMAN WALKER, Dem., of Ab-
 nepee, Kewaunee county. He was
 born in Tul~y. Onondaga county. N.
 Y., May 31, 1799, apd is the oldest
 member of the present Senate. He
 received a common school education ;
 is by profession a lawyer; he came
 to Wisconsin in 1855, and settled at
 Ahnepee; was deputy sheriff of On-
 ondaga county, N. Y., from 1828 to
 1834; supervisor of Tully in 1834,1833
 and 183o; postmaster under James
 K. Polk, at Cochrenton, 0., and at
Milan, 0., ruder Franklin Pierce;
has held the olihe of district, nftrn,'

eleven years; was a member of the
assembly in 1865; elected county su-
perintendent oi schools, in 1866, and
senator in 1869, receiving 2,010 votes,
against 1,891 for J. S. Curtis, PIep.

         THIRD DISTRICT
Consists of the county of Ozaukee.
  Population in 1870, 15,579. The

  LYMAN MORGAN, Dem., of Ozau-
kee. He was born in the town of

mon school education; is by occu-
pation a manufacturer; he came to
Wisconsin in 1847 and settled at Port
Washington; was chairman of the
town board of supervisors for three
years and school director for one
term. Was elecced to the seinate ir
1864 and re-elected in -1866, 1868 and
again in 1870, receiving at the last
election, 1,150 votes against 850 for
A. 'A. Ailing, Ind.

        FOURTH DISTRICT
Consists of the county ol Washing-
  ton. Population in 1870, 23.905.
  The Senator is
  ADAM1 SCHANTZ, Dem., of Addi-
son. He was born in Bavaria, Ger-
many, Octobet 9, 1819; received a
common school education; is by oc-
iupation a larmer and merchant; he

tled at Hartford; was a member of
assembly from Washington county
in 1854, and again in 1863; registerof
deeds in 1853 and 1854; chairman of
the town board for ten or twelve
years; was elected to the senate in
1867, and re-elected in 1869, as an in-
dependent Democratic candidate, re-
ceiting 1,758 votes, against 1,314 for
Paul A. Well, Dem.

          FIFTH DISTRICT
 Consists of the 1st, 2d, 6th and 7th
 wards of Milwauke e and the towans
 of Milwaukee, Wauwatosa and
 Granville, of .Milwaukee county.
 Population in 1870, 39,960. The
