Summary

• Attributed to the Salem pottery. The front of this dish is coated with white engobe and decorated with green and purple-brown slip in imitation of British tortoise shell ware. The back of this dish is incised “OV” on the bottom. Many Salem dishes have similar pre-firing marks, which were probably prices or indicators of piece-work.
