Visual display of the Full petticoat

Full petticoat

  • ca. 1920
  • Full cream petticoat with short sleeves and eyelet lace at neckline. The edges of the sleeves iare run through with bright pink satin ribbon. This ribbon is probably a modern addition. The original ribbon would have been the same color as the garment. There are vertical princess seams to draw in the waist at the front, a garment button in the back with six mother-of-pearl buttons set in a covered placket. There are two horizontal pintucks just above the knee and another row of eyelet ribbon which has also had a new pink ribbon inserted. The bottom has 18 1/2" of net lace overlay. Under the fabric is a lace ruffle complementary to the lace on the top panel. The entire center front of bodice is heavily embroidered in a satin stitch with a floral pattern. In the center there is a symbol that appears to be of significance.
