Summary

• Side table with marquetry top, said to have been made in Racine, probably second half of the nineteenth century. Table bed is mortised into square tapered legs and reinforced with dome-shaped screws. The single drawer has a lapped front with applied molding and a hand-carved pull. The flat, thin drawer bottom is nailed to drawer sides and slotted in sides at back. Located in Sisel House bedroom, Old World Wisconsin as of 2009.
• According to the records of Old World Wisconsin, the table was made by a "Bohemian cabinetmaker" from Racine, Wisconsin. The community of Caledonia, in Racine County, was home to some of the first Czech-speaking immigrants who came to Wisconsin from Bohemia and Moravia in the 1850s and 1860s.
