Ron Kraemer details his experiences working for UW-Madison Department of Information Technology and the years following. His interview covers the 2000s through 2020 and addresses the following topics: experience as DoIT's CFO, the rapid transformation to digital technologies, and respect for the talents of DoIT’s staff and, more broadly, all of UW-Madison. Kraemer discusses DoIT's growth as the technological demands increased across campus classrooms and dorms. Kraemer discusses email technology, learning systems, and building wireless infrastructure and cybersecurity. Kraemer also briefly mentions his career afterwards at Notre Dame, as well as his retirement and the COVID-19 pandemic. This interview was conducted for inclusion into the DoIT at 30 Project of the UW-Madison Archives & Records Management oral history collection.
