• Painted and stenciled cutlery box used at the Donald farm, Town of Springdale, Dane County, ca. 1880. Open wooden box with four canted sides and an arched central divider with cut-out handle. Interior painted white. Exterior painted red with gold stripes and black stencils. Nailed construction.
• This box is one of dozens of artifacts that came to the Mount Horeb Area Historical Society from the estate of Delma Donald Woodburn (1899-2001), who carefully documented and preserved the material heritage of her family's life in Mount Horeb and Madison, Wisconsin. The box was likely used by Woodburn's parents, John Sweet Donald and Vona DeCrow Donald, at their home in the Town of Springdale.
