City of Antigo - The water supply system presently accommodates the existing
demand. Unsafe
bacteriological samples and volatile organic compounds have been detected
in several wells. An
engineering study to plan for an adequate quantity of good quality water
into the future should be
prepared.

Elcho Sanitary District No. 1 - The boundaries of the district 's water supply
system are unknown but
the system has sufficient capacity to accommodate existing demand. A second
well was recently
constructed to improve system reliability.

City of Rhinelander - The water supply system presently accommodates existing
residential demand.
Unsafe bacteriological samples periodically collected at two wells along
with a volatile organic
compound at one of these same wells are cause for concern. An engineering
study to examine
groundwater quality and quantity, source capacity, elevated storage capacity,
and the distribution
system should be considered.

Municipal Wastewater Treatment
Characteristics of the four municipal wastewater treatment facilities in
the local study area are
summarized in Table 2-38. Homes in the remainder of the local study area
are served by individual
septic systems.

City of Antigo - Average flow in 1983 at the Antigo sewage plant was 1.44
million gallons per day.
The plant generally performs well and could tolerate the additional loadings
of a population increase
up to 6,500 people.
