Protestors prepare for Waupaca nuclear waste hearing
HATCAN YOU DO?
Both the federal Nuclear Waste Policy Act and the
Wisconsin law which created the Radioactive Waste
Review Board require that the public be heard in the
high-level radioactive waste repository siting
process.
Because it is uncertain exactly when DOE will re-
sume its repository search in Wisconsin, we must be
prepared to meet the challenges.
The two most important things you can do are to
educate yourself about the production, storage and
disposal of nuclear waste, and to organize a group in
your community that will be ready to review DOE's
studies and inform the public.
You can help the Radioactive Waste Review Board
represent Wisconsin by sharing information that might
add insight into the characteristics of areas under con-
sideration. Such information might include deep water
wells in granite, abandoned mines or the presence of
mineral resources.
