• Twenty-three members of the Manitowoc Police Department, most in uniform, pose in a semi-circle in front of the Wattawa, Urbanek & Schlei Funeral Home at 818 State Street in Manitowoc, Wisconsin on October 30, 1944, just before or after the funeral of Police Lieutenant Aaron Peterson, who had retired from the force in 1941 and died on October 28, 1944 at the age of 61. Police officers served as pallbearers. Second from left is traffic officer Emil Schultz. On the far right, wearing a hat and topcoat, is captain of detectives Frank Tomchek (who later became police chief); in uniform next to him is traffic officer George Darbant.
