The first historic marker on the famous trail, dedicated on September 29, 1927, is a concrete shaft with a bronze tablet. The engraving reads: "Green Bay Road, Pioneer road Chicago to Green Bay, Established by the federal government 1832." Green Bay Road through Kenosha County has a Centennial in the spring of 1935.
