- Description
- Digital archive of reports, publications, and news broadcasts offering firsthand analysis, descriptions, and viewpoints of every facet of the Cold War, with a particular focus on the news outlets located in the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, China, North Korea, Vietnam and other hotspots. The collection provides international perspectives on the formation of NATO, the death of Joseph Stalin, the rise of space exploration, the Arab-Israeli conflict, the Vietnam War, the development of the European Union and regional history in Africa, the Caribbean and elsewhere. Materials in this archive were collected, transcribed and translated into English by the Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS), from 1945 and 1991, under the authority of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) as part of its intelligence gathering operations.
