Summary

  • Tells the story of Josiah Conder, an English architect, who went to Japan in 1877 and at the age of 25 assumed the professorship of the architectural course at the Imperial College of Engineering. There he taught Kingo Tatsuno (1854-1919), Tōkuma Katayama (1853-1917), Tatsuzō Sone (1852-1937), and Shichijirō Satachi (1856-1922).
