  • The Wisconsin Department of Children and Families (DCF) was established in the 2007-2009 biennial budget and by Wis. Stats. 15.20. The agency, launched July 1, 2008, brings together more than 30 services which were originally divided between the Department of Health and Family Services (WHIV01-A386) and the Department of Workforce Development (WIHV96-A859). DCF manages state programs and services geared toward children, including early care and education, child support, Wisconsin Works (W-2), child welfare, foster care, domestic violence, adoption assistance, the Brighter Futures Initiative, and Milwaukee Child Welfare.
