Summary

  • Moving image and recorded sound materials from the educational stations of the University of Wisconsin-Madison which began broadcasting in 1919. The processed moving image portion of the collection is described in finding aids in the Visual Materials Archive at the SHSW. The small processed sound portion of the collection includes recordings of "The First 50 Years of University of Wisconsin Broadcasting, 1919-1969", and coverage of the John F. Kennedy assassination. Additional accessions include kinescopes, films, videotapes, and tape and disc recordings of a wide variety of programs documenting both the stations' programming as well as people, places, and events in Wisconsin and the history of WHA.

Notes

  • The films and videos in this collection also are being cataloged individually.
  • WHA records on paper which once were included in this collection have been transferred to the University of Wisconsin Archives and are available for research use there.
  • Kennedy coverage copied at WHA Studios, 1966; "The First 50 Years..." presented by WHA via Mary Macken, 1970.
