Files contain correspondence, correspondent indexes, legislation working files, grants and projects, case files, press material and publicity including audio recordings of radio messages, reference materials, as well as a small amount of personal papers. Subjects covered in the collection include files on the Williams-Steiger Bill establishing OSHA; the Steiger Amendment reducing the capital gains tax; the Manpower Act; legal services for the poor; services to the elderly; voluntary military service; clear lakes bill establishing protection of the Great Lakes; abortion; Watergate; Vietnam and Vietnamese immigration and orphans; and secondary education.
