Summary

  • Typed transcript prepared by James F. Weiland of a 1936 reminiscence and family history written by his grandfather, August Bloch. Bloch describes both his own and his wife's families, and their emigration from Prussia to America where they first settled in Jefferson County, Wisconsin, and later moved to Marathon County, Wisconsin. Focus is on their lives in the old country, motivations for emigrating, and the boat trip to America; although there is a brief mention of their early experiences in Wisconsin. Also included is a photograph of the Bloch's first cabin near Sullivan, Wisconsin.
