Papers, consisting primarily of letters from Charles Billinghurst, Republican congressman from Wisconsin from 1855 to 1859, to his wife, Hannah, at Juneau describing the problems of organizing the House in 1855, North-South enmity in Congress, and his social activities in Washington. The correspondence from 1865 to 1899 consists mainly of letters from Billinghurst's widow to her sons Bryan and Seelye, who became bankers in South Dakota. Also included are a ledger, 1874-1880s; Hannah (Barber) Billinghurst's diary, 1849-1851, and her recipe book; Bryan Billinghurst's autograph book, 1873-1877; brief genealogies of the Barber and Billinghurst families; and photographs relating to the Billinghurst, Barber and Page families.
